Cancellation and no-show fees

Discount airfares on Airnorth services are non-refundable once the ticket has been issued. Full economy airfares are fully refundable up until two hours prior to the scheduled departure time. However a refund fee may be charged.

Failure to cancel a full economy fare within two hours prior to travel is considered a no-show which is not refundable but is valid for rebooking within 12 months of the original ticket issue date (except for Arnhem Land routes which can be rebooked on a standby basis only).

Connecting flights

Airnorth does not guarantee flight connections with other airlines/multiple flights or cover expenses resulting from missed connections. It is the passenger's responsibility when making bookings to allow time for baggage collection and re-check. Travel insurance is recommended.

Checked baggage

Baggage allowance on Airnorth services on the Brasilia and Metroliner aircraft is 13 kg per person.

Baggage allowance on Airnorth services on the E170 jet (76 seats) is 20kg, unless connecting to a smaller aircraft - all baggage over 13kg will then travel on a stand-by basis.

Items such as wheelchairs, crutches or prosthetics required by special needs passengers may be carried in the aircraft hold at no extra charge, providing the passenger has notified Airnorth prior to making their booking.

Excess baggage

Any baggage in excess of 13kg will be considered 'excess baggage' and will be carried on a space available basis. Excess baggage charges will be applied to all baggage in excess of 20kgs.

Excess baggage charge is $AUD5.00 per kilo.

Cabin baggage

Passengers travelling on aircraft with 19 or less seats will be required to check-in all baggage, no carry-on baggage will be allowed other than small, soft handbags.

On aircraft with more than 19 seats, passengers occupying a seat are allowed one small bag with a maximum weight of 4kg and maximum dimension of 135mm x 410mm x 275mm.

Carry-on baggage for the E170 jet (76seats) is 7kg, unless connecting to a smaller aircraft when the carry on baggage will be relevant to that aircraft size and type.

Catering

Refreshments are offered on all Airnorth services with a cabin attendant.

Children requiring supervision

Airnorth generally requires that passengers are able to travel independently. We do not assume responsibility for assistance and close supervision of children, particularly on services which operate without a cabin attendant. Children requiring close supervision may not be regarded as able to travel independently on the basis that they may cause a disruption or endanger themselves or others if traveling unaccompanied.

As a guideline, children who have not yet five years of age, will be regarded as unable to travel independently and will not be eligible to travel unless they are accompanied by an appropriate Accompanying Passenger*.

Airnorth may request proof of age at check-in. Despite these guidelines, if a child has obtained five years of age but their parent or guardian considers that the child is not sufficiently independent to travel unaccompanied using the service provided by the airline, they must notify Airnorth when making a reservation and make provision for an accompanying passenger. Airnorth is not able to carry such passengers unaccompanied.

Where Airnorth accepts a child for transfer to or from another airline, the parent or guardian shall be responsible for the care and supervision of the child while in transit between flights and for meeting the requirements of the other airline.

Special needs passengers

Airnorth generally will not allow a person to travel without an Accompanying Passenger* unless the person can travel independently, meaning that they can travel safely without assistance, supervision or both. There are limited exceptions to this and you should contact Airnorth for further information.

Airnorth does not assume responsibility for such assistance and supervision. However, we do provide limited special assistance services to accommodate customers who need to travel with a guide dog, hearing or mobility dog, customers who require a wheelchair to reach the aircraft and customers who require two seats for themselves. If you require special assistance please contact Airnorth prior to making your bookings. Those who have made special arrangements will be boarded first.

*Accompanying Passenger means a paying passenger who, in our reasonable opinion, can travel independently and is able to and will provide the appropriate assistance, supervision, or both, as is required for the particular customer they are accompanying. As a guide, Airnorth generally will not consider a passenger to be an appropriate Accompanying Passenger for a child unless the passenger is at least 15 years old.

Animals

Airnorth will not accept any animals at the check-in counter. All animals must be lodged with Australian Air Express or their agent 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Carriage of animals will be at the discretion of Australian Air Express.
